The control of leachate within a landfill is essential for compliance with the waste management license. A leachate extraction system is a vital component for a landfill site. It must be reliable and efficient as the removal of leachate may be required for several years after landfill activities have ceased.
The control of leachate in sites where active gas abstraction is employed can increase the efficiency of gas extraction, improving anti-migration networks, or boosting gas yields for power generation.
Experience has shown that, in many cases, leachate has accumulated in a site over many years and there is a need to remove a leachate backlog followed by the extraction of lower volumes in line with current leachate generation.
MM Enviro can offer a complete service for the design of leachate extraction systems based on the venturi method or any other pumping system. Personnel involved with the company have worked on leachate extraction systems for over 15 years and are capable of designing extraction systems that can control leachate reliably with low capitol and low operational costs.
The pumps can be installed in existing gas wells to reduce installation costs, or in purpose built leachate extraction boreholes and chimneys.
MM Enviro can undertake pumping trials for evaluation of leachate volumes and calculation of re-charge rates, thereby preventing the installation of over specified units, which are costly to install and operate.
We are well placed to carryout the following;
Review of existing leachate extraction systems
Evaluation of leachate removal requirements
Pumping trials to investigate extraction efficiency and re-charge rates
Design of extraction system
